Manchester United manager Michael Carrick (Picture: Getty) Former Premier League manager Neil Warnock believes Manchester United should have looked to sign Ezri Konsa before his £55million move to Arsenal. Konsa has enjoyed a brilliant start to his Gunners career following a big-money move from Aston Villa over the summer. The 29-year-old came straight into Mikel Arteta’s team due to William Saliba’s injury lay-off and has helped Arsenal win eight of their first nine Premier League matches so far this season. Conversely, it has been a miserable start to the season for United, who have not tasted victory in the league since a 5-2 win over Ipswich Town in late August. That start has seen United’s recruitment strategy placed under the microscope, most notably their failure to address a glaring lack of depth in defence in the summer transfer window. And Warnock cited Konsa’s move to Arsenal as one deal that United should have looked to pursue instead of their all-out focus on signing midfielders. ‘They spend money on forwards, they spend money on midfield players like you’ve never seen and yet they still haven’t got a defence,’ Warnock told The Mirror. Arsenal summer signing Ezri Konsa (Picture: Shutterstock) ‘I don’t understand how a top club like that can’t buy defenders – and they’ve never had any full backs that can defend either. ‘They could have bought Konsa this year. Why didn’t they spend money like that? They’d rather spent £100million on a midfielder – even though the defenders can’t defend!’ Warnock continued: ‘If nothing changes, they are going to struggle. I’m not bothered who comes in. They will struggle. ‘You look at Brighton and Bournemouth and clubs like that, and you think that’s a good [recruitment strategy]… But when you look at Man United, if the recruitment can’t see that what I’ve seen for the last five years, there’s something wrong somewhere.’ Speaking recently, Rio Ferdinand echoed Warnock’s sentiments, insisting he would have…

Could Liverpool make a move for the Chelsea star? (Picture: Getty) Emile Heskey has urged his former side Liverpool to pursue the audacious signing of young Chelsea forward Estevao. Estevao was a bright spark against Manchester United last weekend in what was his first Premier League start of the season. But outside of that display, the Brazilian has struggled for game time so far this season under Xabi Alonso, with the form of other attackers limiting him to just 134 minutes of playing time in the league. Reports earlier in the season claimed that the 19-year-old had become frustrated over his lack of playing opportunities under his new boss. Get personalised updates on your favourite club Sign up to our daily football newsletter, pick your team and get the latest news sent directly to your inbox every morning. And while Alonso has insisted that Estevao has a bright future ahead of him at Chelsea, Heskey wonders if Liverpool could lure the Brazilian to Anfield with the promise of more regular starts. ‘Estevao would be a great signing for Liverpool,’ he told Eldorado. ‘You look at what he would bring, his drive on the ball and everything, he’s a very tidy player, and that is exactly what Liverpool still miss after losing Mohamed Salah, someone who is more direct. Estevao started his first Premier League match of the season last weekend (Picture: Getty) ‘It would put pressure on the other wingers who are great players as well but it ups the ante, and he’d love the chance to get more chances to show what he can do because he’s been out of the reckoning at times for someone of his talent.’ Speaking before Estevao’s start against United last weekend, Alonso insisted that there were no plans for the Brazilian to leave the club on loan in the January transfer window. ‘No discussions about that,’ Alonso said. A project to convert the country’s traditional kulla houses into guesthouses offers a true flavour of ancient hospitality in a part of the country almost untouched by tourism Sunlight pours through a tiny stone window, causing the wooden floorboards to creak as they warm up. The sound of sheep’s bells filters in from a passing flock. The scent of baking bread mingles with smoke from the previous evening’s fire. I wake up feeling I’ve been transported back to another time – but in reality I’m in modern-day Albania. I’m staying in a kulla, one of the traditional stone tower houses that are found throughout northern Albania, Montenegro and North Macedonia. They once protected families during times of conflict and sheltered weary travellers on trade routes, before mostly falling into disrepair in the 20th century. A new long-distance trail developed by the Albanian Agritourism Association aims to return some of them to their former glory and give visitors a chance to discover a part of Albania almost untouched by tourism. Apple today shared a new Apple Card ad highlighting how quick it is to apply, get approved, and make purchases. In the spot, a therapist is listening to a patient drone on when a cheap flight pops up on her iPhone. Her wallet is across the room and she can't get up to grab it, so she opens up the iPhone Wallet app, applies for an ‌Apple Card‌, and is able to purchase a flight within a couple of minutes. Apple Card is built into iPhone, and you can apply in as little as a minute. No waiting for a physical credit card, no friction. All it takes is a few taps of your iPhone. You can earn unlimited daily cash back, and use it right away. It's worth noting that the iPhone also has AutoFill for credit card information so there's often no need for access to a physical card when making web purchases, plus many sites support Apple Pay. The ‌Apple Card‌ is limited to U.S. iPhone owners, and applying requires a soft credit check. Accepting the ‌Apple Card‌ offer results in a hard credit inquiry. Apple explains how ‌Apple Card‌ applications are approved or denied on its website. Cambridge joins UK Quantum SuperConnector to accelerate commercial success of quantum research Sarah Collins Fri, 11/06/2026 - 14:27 A consortium of five of the UK’s top universities, including the University of Cambridge, has announced the launch of the UK Quantum SuperConnector, an initiative designed to bridge the gap between quantum research and commercial success. The initiative will create a UK-wide community of entrepreneurs, investors, industry adopters and policymakers that will strengthen the vibrant quantum ecosystem across the UK. The programme will help researchers across the country to accelerate the adoption of quantum technologies, attract investment and enable growth. The five universities – Cambridge, Imperial College London, and the Universities of Bristol, Glasgow and Oxford – all have deep strengths in quantum research and commercialisation. Cambridge’s contribution will draw on its track record in translating quantum research into commercial success through both startups and industrial collaboration, including Nu Quantum, Riverlane, and the University’s partnership with IonQ to establish the IonQ Quantum Innovation Centre, which was launched in October 2026 and will be the home of the most powerful quantum computer in the UK when it is installed next year. Professor Ramana Nanda from Imperial Business School will serve as Director of the Quantum SuperConnector. Dr Aga Iwasiewicz-Wabnig, Director of the University of Cambridge’s Maxwell Centre, will serve as Co-Director. “The UK’s long-standing strategic investment in quantum research, including through its National Quantum Technologies Programme (NQTP), already generates world-class science,” said Iwasiewicz-Wabnig. “We must now build up a matched capability to commercialise and deploy emerging quantum-enabled technologies, wherever in the UK the right ideas originate.” “The UK Quantum SuperConnector will draw on the decade of expertise of the Maxwell Centre in taking research towards…

Apple plans to merge the iPhone's Action button with the Camera Control starting next year, according to the leaker known as "Instant Digital." In a new post on Weibo, the leaker claimed that a single press of the combined button would open the camera, while a long press would trigger the function assigned to the Action button. They explicitly clarified that the dedicated Action button would disappear, while the Camera Control button would remain. The proposed arrangement seems plausible given how the two features already work. The Action button predates the Camera Control and requires a long press to activate its assigned function, while a single press of the Camera Control opens the camera. Combining them in the way described would therefore preserve both familiar interactions, with the customizable action simply moving to a different location on the device. A long press of Camera Control currently opens Visual Intelligence, but that feature has since been integrated directly into the Camera app as Siri mode in iOS 27. That integration could give Apple room to reassign the gesture while keeping Visual Intelligence accessible through the Camera app. It is notable that the iPhone Duo also lacks an Action button, despite retaining Camera Control. Its omission provides a precedent for an iPhone without the separate control and could hint at a broader change in the future. The Camera Control received a mixed reception when it debuted on the iPhone 16, with some reviewers criticizing its usefulness, complexity, and ergonomics, making further refinement seem plausible. Combining it with the Action button could give the control a clearer sense of purpose. Removing a separate button could also simplify manufacturing and reduce the potential for users to confuse the Action button with the adjacent volume buttons. Apple was previously rumored to be working on a simplified Camera Control design for the iPhone 18 lineup, but that change did not materialize. Instant…
