"Chappelle's Show" earned critical acclaim for its satirical and often controversial take on race, culture, and social issues. The show's sketches, such as "The Racial Draft" and "Charlie Murphy's True Hollywood Stories," became cultural touchstones. However, in 2005, Chappelle abruptly left the show during its third season, citing concerns about the direction of the show and the pressures of fame.

After a hiatus from the entertainment industry, Chappelle returned to stand-up comedy and gained further acclaim for his insightful and thought-provoking routines. He signed a deal with Netflix to release several stand-up specials, including "Dave Chappelle: Equanimity" (2017) and "Dave Chappelle: The Bird Revelation" (2017).
