The ‘new James Bond’ isn’t Callum Turner, if you believe a bunch of actors in a pub (Picture: shutterstock/ metro) The new James Bond might have just been revealed in the most British way possible – being leaked by the actor’s mates at the pub after too many pints. The identity of the next 007 has been one of Hollywood’s most closely guarded secrets, with anticipation building since Daniel Craig’s 2021 exit. After writer Steven Knight teased that someone had been selected, rumours ramped up about who that chosen actor could be. However, it’s not frontrunners Callum Turner or Jack Lowden’s mates who were ‘insisting’ their friend was Bond. Instead, Josh O’Connor has reportedly landed the role, if the murky beer-goggled details are to be believed. An insider told The Sun: ‘I bumped into one of Josh’s Golden Boy cast mates at The French House. They were recognised by a lot of people who asked for selfies, and we got chatting in a corner completely by accident. Josh O’Connor reportedly told his Golden Boy cast mates he was Bond (Picture: AP Photo/Michel Euler) The next 007 has been speculated since Daniel Craig’s exit (Picture: Danjaq/UPI/Kobal/Shutterstock) ‘Out of nowhere, and oiled by a few glasses of lager, they blurted out that Josh was the next James Bond. ‘I said it was pure speculation but they were insistent it was Josh.’ The actor has been mentioned in the running for Bond but not quite as a top contender, according to bookies. He would undoubtedly be a popular choice, having enjoyed a run of huge films, including Knives Out’s Wake Up Dead Man, Challengers, and God’s Own Country. Reportedly, the Golden Boy cast claimed he had ‘confided in them about getting the role’ after the cast had ‘celebratory drinks’ when the play finished on Halloween. While it would be silly to rule out any contender, it’s probably best to wait for an official announcement before anyone takes O’Connor out for another round of celebratory drinks. Fans are still waiting on…

Sustainability has become an increasingly visible feature of consumer-packaged goods (CPGs), from the ingredients used in household products to the materials and design of their packaging. For companies marketing sustainable products, however, an important question remains: Does communicating more environmental benefits necessarily improve how consumers evaluate a product? Although highlighting several sustainability features may provide a more complete picture, consumers may not respond to all this information in the same way.

Power is draining away at home, but the US president will see a chance to make his mark through foreign policy Kim Darroch was Britain’s ambassador to the US between January 2016 and December 2019 Election nights are party time in Washington. The bars and restaurants fill up and the city rocks. For diplomats, it’s an opportunity – but it’s also a long night, as you trek across the party scene in search of insight and illumination. Invariably, it has its moments. I recall being at the Washington Post party on the night of the presidential election on 8 November 2016. Washington is an overwhelmingly Democrat city and the atmosphere was raucously optimistic, reflecting Hillary Clinton’s small but consistent lead in the polls. As the first results came in a shocked hush fell across the room. People gathered in small, murmuring groups. Within 30 minutes, half the guests had left. In contrast, I recall speaking to Nancy Pelosi, the queen of the Democrats, at a watch party on 6 November 2018, for the midterms during Trump’s first presidency. I asked her what I should put in my overnight report to London, given that most results wouldn’t be in. She said, with striking confidence, that I should predict that the Democrats would retake the House of Representatives. She was right: the Democrats flipped 41 Republican seats. It gave Pelosi a second term as speaker of the House and gave the world the enjoyable theatre of her sitting directly behind Trump at his State of the Union speeches, rolling her eyes at the bombast. Kim Darroch was British ambassador to the US from 2016 to 2019, and is author of Collateral Damage: Britain, America and Europe in the Age of Trump Do you have an opinion on the issues raised in this article? Another away day, another victory for Arsenal. This time, the much-maligned Viktor Gyökeres stole the show as poor Slavia Prague matched the longest winless streak in European Cup and Champions League history despite a spirited late comeback. That now stands at 23, equalling the mark set by AEK Athens and FCSB – formerly known as Steaua Bucharest – while Arsenal are now unbeaten in their last 10 away European trips. After last week’s wobble against Fleetwood, there was no prospect of Arsenal making the same mistake again as soon as Noni Madueke fired them ahead early on after being superbly set up by Gyökeres. That was his third assist in his last five appearances, although Mikel Arteta will have been even more encouraged by the emphatic finish that had seemed to put the game beyond Slavia’s reach just before the break. While Kai Havertz remains his undoubted first choice, having another striker in form will only boost Arsenal’s challenge and it was noticeable that there was an extra spring in the 28-year-old’s step after his goal.
