Schoolgirl, 12, dies after being knocked down by double decker bus (Picture: Google) A 12-year-old girl has been killed by a bus on her lunch break from a Scottish school. The girl was pronounced dead at the scene in Kilwinning, Ayrshire, on Tuesday afternoon. A parent from Kilwinning Academy said: ‘My son was heading for his lunch from school and heard it happen. ‘He heard screams. I think everyone standing nearby got a fright and was left traumatised. It’s just terrible.’ A Police Scotland spokesperson said: ‘Around 1.10pm, on Tuesday, 3 November, 2026, we received a report of a crash involving a 12-year-old female pedestrian and a bus on Lauchlan Way. ‘Emergency services attended, but the 12-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene. Her family is aware. ‘There were no reports of any other injuries and enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.’ Police have appealed for anyone with information to come forward. Sergeant Stewart Taylor said: ‘Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of the girl who died at what is an extremely difficult time for them. ‘We would ask that anyone with any information contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting reference 1484 of Tuesday, 3 November, 2026.’ Add Metro as a Preferred Source on Google Add as preferred source
