Amelia Bedelia

Amelia Bedelia is a housekeeper who tries her best to follow instructions but often gets things hilariously wrong because she takes idioms and phrases literally. For example, if her employer asks her to "dress the chicken", she might put a little outfit on it. Her misunderstandings lead to amusing situations and lots of laughter.

Throughout the series, Amelia Bedelia embarks on various adventures, both at work and in her daily life. Her literal interpretations of language make her a beloved character, and readers delight in her comical mishaps.

The "Amelia Bedelia" books by Peggy Parish and later by Herman Parish have been cherished by generations of children and continue to be popular for their clever wordplay and wholesome humor. They teach the importance of language and understanding idioms in a fun and entertaining way.
